FDA News
We understand that recent developments regarding your medications have been a rollercoaster. Please note that the following information is subject to change, but as of now, this is the current situation:
Important Dates:
-
Compounded Tirzepatide: Availability will cease after March 19, 2025.
-
Compounded Semaglutide: Availability will cease after May 22, 2025.
On December 19, 2024, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officially removed Tirzepatide, the active ingredient in medications like Mounjaro® and Zepbound®, from the drug shortage list.
Similarly, on February 21, 2025, the FDA declared the shortage of Semaglutide, found in Ozempic® and Wegovy®, resolved.
As a result, compounding pharmacies are now prohibited from producing these medications under federal regulations. To allow for a smooth transition, the FDA has provided grace periods:
-
Tirzepatide: Compounding, distributing, or dispensing must cease by March 19, 2025.
-
Semaglutide: Compounding, distributing, or dispensing must cease by May 22, 2025.
Due to these updates, Achieve Weight Goals can no longer facilitate access to pharmacies for compounded tirzepatide and semaglutide prescriptions beyond the specified dates.
We understand that this may be concerning, especially for those who have relied on these options as part of your weight loss journey.
Please be aware that legal challenges are ongoing regarding these FDA decisions, which may lead to further changes. We will keep you informed of any updates as they become available.
Why is this happening?
Tirzepatide and Semaglutide have been highly effective and popular options for weight loss. However, due to recent FDA updates, we are no longer able to offer compounded versions of these medications.
The FDA only allows compounding when a medication is officially in shortage. Now that both the tirzepatide and semaglutide shortages have been resolved, compounding pharmacies must stop producing them.
We understand that this change may be frustrating, but it’s important to note that the FDA’s regulations are designed to ensure the safety and integrity of the medications available to patients. While compounded Tirzepatide and Semaglutide are no longer options, we are ready to help you transition to alternative treatments.

As always, transparency is key, and this information was outlined in your patient consent forms so you could make informed decisions throughout your treatment process.
